The Tampa – Classification Algorithm for Suicidality Assessment (T-CASA) was designed to capture the details about the events of suicidality. The order of columns from left to right was deliberately designed to lend itself to a fluid sequence of data capture from the patient’s perspective. It gives the clinician insight into the patient’s experience by asking the patient to document the ideation type, the level of willfulness, and the emotion level associated with the experience. This data is not captured by other classification systems, leading some patients to feel as though their experience is not heard or understood or validated. Patients believe it is important to capture this data to provide these clinicians, researchers, and regulatory agencies accurate insight into their experience of these events.
