The Homicide Plan Tracking Scale (HPTS) is designed to capture many details of homicide planning and to allow clinicians to track homicide planning over time. The HPTS covers 7 domains of suicidal planning:
• homicide method
• homicide means
• homicide location
• homicide date
• people involved
• homicidal intent
• incomplete preparations
It offers the patient a way to share the details of homicide plans with their clinician. It provides the clinician a format to better understand the extent of patient’s homicide planning. The use of the HPTS can help the patient get appropriate, individualized care, which may help them refrain from killing others.
