The Homicidality Modifiers Scale (HMS) assesses the severity of impulsive homicidality, hopelessness, loss of enjoyment, and overwhelmed feeling. All of these can compound homicidality. The HMS investigates factors that can influence these domains of homicidality. The HMS may be particularly helpful in assessing impulsive homicidality and hopelessness in a way that is very sensitive to change and may provide an early warning sign of impending worsening of homicidality before it becomes apparent in other ways. It is designed for use in clinical research studies and in clinical settings.
